Off-target search is scoped to the provided sequence only (no genome-wide reference index). When the backend is online, off-target and on-target scores use published algorithms (CFD, Rule Set 3 / Doench 2014); otherwise scores are the client-side heuristic only — see docs/scientific-assumptions.md. Research prototype, not a clinical or diagnostic tool.
